Industrial Design

Industrial Design is the ornamental plastic form of an object or the ornamental set of lines and colors that can be applied to a product, providing a new and original visual result in its external configuration and that can serve as a type of industrial manufacture.

Thus, the requirements for creation to be subject to protection by the registration of an industrial design are: novelty, originality and capable of being industrially reproduced, or at least, serving as a model for serial manufacturing.

LENGTH OF PROTECTION
The registration will be valid for a period of 10 (ten) years from the date of filing, extendable for 3 (three) successive periods of 5 (five) years each.

TERRITORY OF PROTECTION 
The Industrial Design Registration is valid across the national territory (principle enshrined in the Convention of Union of Paris - CUP).

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN RELATED SERVICES COMPRISE:

  • novelty search;
  • drafting, filing and follow-up of the application;
  • extension of registration;
  • portfolio management of industrial design registrations;
  • drafting of contracts involving the assignment and license of industrial design.
