Copyright is related to the protection of the creations of the human intellect, expressed by any means or fixed in any support, tangible or intangible, such as scientific, artistic and literary works, musical compositions, audiovisual works, paintings, sculptures, architectural projects and engineering, among others. In addition, copyright provides protection to artists who perform or perform artistic, literary works or expressions of folklore. The computer program is also protected by copyright, and its protection and sale in the country are dealt with in specific legislation.
LENGTH OF PROTECTION
Copyrights last for seventy years from January 1 of the year following his/her death, in compliance with the succession order of civil law.
As for audiovisual and photographic works, the term of copyright protection will be seventy years, as of January 1 of the year following their disclosure.
After the protection period, the work will go into the public domain.
TERRITORY OF PROTECTION
The principle of reciprocity of treatment guarantees authors, nationals or persons domiciled in a country that guarantees Brazilians or persons domiciled in Brazil reciprocity in the protection of rights.
COPYRIGHTS RELATED SERVICES COMPRISE:
- guidance on the type of works and forms of copyright protection;
- registration of copyright of literary, artistic and scientific works (photographs, images, illustrations, musical compositions, videos, etc.) in relevant entities;
- guidance on the permitted use of third-party intellectual Works;
- drafting of contracts involving the copyright assignment and license.
